Portfolio Profiles
For 30 years, Willis Investment Counsel has worked with a wide
variety of institutional and high net worth individual clients in developing
and implementing investment strategies that are tailored to meet our clients'
investment objectives, income requirements, and risk tolerance. We structure
and individually manage equity, fixed income, and balanced portfolios in
accordance with a policy of investment guidelines and requirements developed
collaboratively with our clients.
Reflective of our long-term orientation, a substantial number of our clients
have been clients of our firm for more than ten years - in some cases, more
than 20 years. In the instances of a number of family clients, we are now
working with the second generation family members.
Income tax considerations can be of particular importance to our taxable
clients. We therefore structure and manage the portfolios of our taxable
clients utilizing strategies carefully designed to minimize tax impact.
For example, our value investment style of portfolio management involves
a disciplined longer-term focus - the average holding period for securities
in our portfolios is 2.5 years - which generates tax-efficient returns over
time. We also employ ongoing capital gains tax management (e.g., tax loss
selling) so as to reduce or eliminate realized capital gains.
